Academic Position in Anatomical
Pathology


Unity Health Toronto and the University of Toronto’s Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology are seeking applications from qualified and highly motivated individuals to fill a permanent Anatomical Pathology position in our Centre. The successful applicant must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor at the University of Toronto. The start date will be 05/01/2024 or mutually agreed upon.
Unity Health Toronto comprises St. Michael’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Centre and Providence Healthcare in Toronto. The network has a focus on inner city health as well as world-class care in endoscopy, surgery and oncology. The successful candidate will provide excellence in our surgical pathology diagnostic clinical practice with a subspecialty focus: training and/or experience in Breast, Lung, Molecular or Genitourinary pathology would be preferred. Participation in frozen section diagnosis and after-hours call is expected; participation in the autopsy service would be an asset. The successful candidate will also contribute to the academic mission of the Department, via participation in collaborative research, undergraduate teaching and residency training programs. The Department’s strategic plan includes a focus on diagnostic innovation, test utilization and clinical engagement. Interest in one of these would be an asset.

Applicants must be eligible for medical licensure in the province of Ontario and must hold postgraduate qualifications in Anatomic, Clinical or General Pathology. The successful candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology. Fellowship training or demonstrated subspecialty expertise/commitment is favored. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Compensation will be in accordance with the uniform level of compensation in the Province of Ontario, where the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care has implemented a total compensation package that will equalize the successful candidate’s compensation with that of other Laboratory Physicians in the Province of Ontario (currently $374,876.55)
