The Island Health Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology, and Medical Genetics is seeking applications for a full-time anatomical pathologist who can provide broad coverage in surgical pathology. Previous work experience and/or fellowship training would be considered an asset. Based at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, you will work with a team in the hospital environment, sharing knowledge and collaborating to ensure seamless pathology services within the local community and across the island. You will be a member of the Department and report to the Division Head and Medical Director of Anatomical Pathology and the Department Head and Medical Director for Laboratory Medicine.

Nanaimo Regional General Hospital is the regional hospital for central Vancouver Island, providing services to an immediate referral population of 125,000 and secondary referral services for 330,000. It has 345 acute care beds and over 20 long term care beds. The Nanaimo medical community enjoys a full complement of primary care physicians and skilled specialist colleagues.

All applicants must have a Fellowship in Anatomic Pathology or General Pathology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or its equivalent) and must obtain full licensure in the province of British Columbia, as well as CMPA coverage. The successful applicant will ideally be an excellent diagnostician with superb interpersonal and collaborative abilities. Subspecialty expertise and previous experience will be considered favourable assets.
