The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), a world-renowned paediatric academic health science centre and the University of Toronto’s Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, are seeking two full-time Paediatric Pathologists to join the Division of Pathology, Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The anticipated start date will be July 1, 2021 or a mutually agreeable date.

We are seeking two physicians who will foster excellence in paediatric pathology practice, research and teaching at the hospital. The qualified applicants shall hold a relevant Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent, and shall be eligible for medical licensure in the Province of Ontario. Duties include the delivery of a broad range of paediatric pathology services in association with other paediatric pathologists in the Division, as it is practiced in Canada, and participating in common divisional functions such as on-call coverage. Subspecialty interest/expertise in one or more of paediatric and perinatal autopsy, renal, cardiovascular, molecular and lung pathology is desirable but not an absolute requirement. A fully accredited residency program is in place and teaching of residents, fellows and medical students is expected. Excellent opportunities for both independent and collaborative research exist, and will be strongly encouraged.

The successful candidates should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Minimum salary and benefits are in accordance with the uniform minimal level of compensation for laboratory physicians in the Province of Ontario.

The Division of Pathology at SickKids has 12 pathologists responsible for providing a comprehensive range of paediatric pathology services, teaching and research. In addition to its active surgical pathology and autopsy services, the Division has specialized facilities and access to state-of-the-art and cutting edge technologies to conduct advanced diagnostics, including rare and complex conditions. The Division enjoys close and dynamic interactions with the other Divisions within the Department of Paediatric Laboratory Medicine (Clinical Biochemistry, Haematopathology, Microbiology and Genome Diagnostics), numerous clinical programs and services, and the SickKids Research Institute in advancing the Hospital’s integrated mission of health care, teaching and research for the benefit of children and their families.
