Part-Time Forensic Pathologist
(Anatomical may be considered)

As the lead medicolegal investigative office for reportable deaths the Province, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) is located in Newfoundland and Labrador’s capital city of St. John’s and serves a population of more than 500,000 residents.
The OCME is currently seeking the services of a part-time Pathologist (Forensic training is preferred) with consideration for future full-time employment. Individuals may consider supplementing their employment by exploring research and teaching opportunities through the Faculty of Medicine with Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Candidates must be eligible for licensure in Newfoundland and Labrador and have obtained, or be eligible to obtain, specialty qualifications from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and/or the American Board of Pathology. Experience in Forensic Pathology or certification in Forensic pathology by the American or Canadian Boards are desired.

Compensation is in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding of the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association (NLMA). The OCME is operates under of the Department of Justice and Public Safety, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The duties and responsibilities of the Office are governed by the Fatalities Investigations Act and is critical to the administration of justice in the province.
